Peak Demand - The highest demand measured over any given 15 minute period of time in a month.

Watt -The practical unit of electric energy which is defined as the rate at which energy is delivered to a circuit. It is the power expended when a current of one ampere flows through a resistance of one ohm.

Watthour - The practical unit of electric energy which is expended in one hour when the average power during the hour is one watt.

Kilowatt -1000 watts.

Current Transformer - An instrument transformer designed for measurement. It is normally used to reduce primary current by a known ratio to within the range of a connected measuring device (meter).

I & I - Inflow and infiltration of storm water into the sanitary sewer system.

Area Light - A lighting unit designed to operate from dusk to dawn.

Commercial Service - Rates applicable to commercial, institutional and industrial customers except churches with usage exceeding 25 kW and to churches with usage exceeding 150 kW in any month of the year, for all uses, but not for resale or standby service.

Connect Fee - A fee for setting new service.

Consumption - Amount of kilowatts and/or gallons of water used.

Customer Charge - A charge per month for each metering point. This shall be in addition to the charges for usage.

FADJ - Fuel adjustment factor in cents per kwh. The FADJ will be calculated and modified monthly and will be based upon the average cost to purchase energy in the month immediately preceding the month of application.

Final Bill - All final charges on a service that has been disconnected.

General Service - Rates that apply to commercial customer, except churches, whose electric load is not in excess of 25 kW for any use but not for resale or standby service, and to any church whose electric load is not in excess of 150 kW.

Grace Day - The time period of 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the day after the due date on a bill.

Minimum Bill - A minimum charge for electric, water and sanitation when there is no consumption.

Penalty - 5% charge on the unpaid balance of utility bill after due date.

Reading Date - Dates the technician reads electric and water meters.

Residential Service - Rates that shall apply to residential customers for all residential uses, but not for resales, standby, business or manufacturing service.

Seasonal Meter - An additional 3/4" water meter used for outdoor watering, i.e. pools, gardening, lawns.

Summer Rates - Rates on utility service for the period of May through September.

Winter Rates - Rates on utility service for the period of October through April.
