Gary J. Brooks currently holds the position of Emergency Management/ Code Enforcement Director for our City. He was appointed on September 13, 2004.

He retired after a thirty one year career in law enforcement with the Huntington Beach police department in California. He moved with his wife, Shireen and daughter, Megan to Miami in October of 2000. Gary holds a Bachelor's degree in management from the University of Redlands, California. He has three daughters, Melynda, Dana, and Jennifer living in southern California along with his four grand children.

Chris has been with the city since June 2005.

Born and raised in Miami, Chris has over 4 years experience in customer service and public relations. He welcomes the challenge to help continue the success of the code enforcement program. He will strive to promote public awareness concerning the importance of property maintenance, not only for today, but for the citizens of tomorrow.

Glenda has been with the City since November 2005.

She is a long time resident of Miami and comes to the City of Miami from NEO A&M College. She believes that Miami is one of the more beautiful cities in northeastern Oklahoma and wants to share in its continued beautification and growth.

 

Areas Of Concern

Main areas of concern include:  

  • Mowing of property 
  • Trash and debris 
  • Securing of abandoned buildings 
  • Removal/remodel of dilapidated structures 
  • Removal/storage of abandoned vehicles

Procedures for addressing violations include:

  • Abatement letter issued, giving a compliance deadline. 
  • Failure to comply will result in a City cleanup followed by a lien against the property, or the issuance of a citation to appear in the City's municipal court.
